The Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre is today one of the most prestigious national and international healthcare centers, thanks to its technological equipment, facilities and the work carried out by its more than 6,000 professionals. This recognition is projected not only in its healthcare facet, but also in teaching and research.
The Hospital has three large buildings, the General Residence, the Maternal and Infant Hospital and the Ambulatory Activities Center, and three Specialty Centers: C.E. Carabanchel, C.E. Orcasitas and C.E. Villaverde cruce.

In addition to this new building, the Hospital 12 de Octubre is carrying out the complete refurbishment of the adult emergency building, which has a budget of 5 million euros and is about to be completed, together with the renovation of the Auditorium, with a capacity for more than 500 attendees.
Subsequently, work will be carried out in the Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology areas, for the outpatient care of cancer patients, which will have infrastructures with «the highest standards of quality and humanization».
Escudero recalled that the comprehensive renovation project of the 12 de Octubre Hospital began in 2006 with the construction of the Technical Facilities Building and continued in 2011 with the start-up of the Outpatient Activities Center, for outpatient consultations, diagnostic tests, day hospitals and major outpatient surgery.

The Occupational Risk Prevention Service of the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (former Area 11), was officially established on April 29, 2002 with 3 occupational physicians, 5 graduates in occupational nursing, 1 nursing supervisor, 1 intermediate technician, 1 senior technician specializing in Safety and 1 administrative assistant. Since then we have continued building it, growing and trying to give it the shape we like.
At present, we are 5 specialists in Occupational Medicine, 7 residents – in addition to the rotating ones -, 5 specialists in occupational nursing, 1 Senior Technician in the specialty of Safety, 1 Senior Technician in the specialty of Hygiene, 1 Nursing Supervisor and 1 Head of the Service. We have a protocolized program of the Psychiatry Service in the psychiatric and neuropsychological assessment of our cases.
Being our desire to continue advancing and being aware that this form of dissemination can allow us to improve, we use it as a means of information on occupational risk prevention aimed at professionals.
