El dia de baleares

Ibiza

The Cathedral Santa Maria of Palma de Mallorca is one of the central places where the artisans and the different activities congregate on the Day of the Balearic Islands. The Balearic Islands composed by the islands of the Balearic archipelago among which are Mallorca, Menorca, Cabrera, Ibiza and some nearby islets such as Dragonera, Conejera or Isla del Aire, went through several parliamentary discussions to declare autonomy.
The activities for the celebration of this day begin to be organized long before. The islands, being a major tourist center, pay special attention to the organization of the events to be held for the holiday.
In Ibiza, for example, open-air days are held, in which traditional dances are presented in the form of parades. Also the Ajuntament de la Ciutadella de Menorca, organizes gastronomic samples where the typical dishes of the region are presented, sports activities, popular dances, among others.
In Menorca, on the other hand, in addition to all the aforementioned, there are horseback riding presentations that are typical of the popular festivities, as well as folkloric groups from different parts of the island.

On the other hand, Campos has argued the absence of Vox in the acts of the Balearic Day recalling that the approval of the Statute of Autonomy is celebrated, which for the formation «is the cause of the current Catalanization of the Balearic Islands, given that it does not defend the Balearic cultural identity and includes the Islands in a pretended Catalan cultural sphere».
There has been, there is and there will be exile of left and right (Chavez and Pinochet to give examples) but the issue here and now is the Venezuelan exile, that led by the man of paper called Juan Guaidó.
That Venezuela’s rulers are crap is evident, both Maduro and the opposition. In the end this discussion will end up in the origin of this polarization that comes from the cold war, from the affinities of the USA and the extinct USSR.

S’espalma…

Law 9/1984, of October 30, 1984, declared March 1st as the «Day of the Balearic Islands», with the character of an official holiday throughout the autonomous community, but a working holiday; and without prejudice that each island could have its own holiday by agreement of its respective island council.
March 1 was considered for the first time as a non-working day in 1999 (Resolution of the Ministry of Labor and Training of November 20, 1998). Currently, Article 6.3 of the 2007 Statute of Autonomy of the Balearic Islands establishes March 1 as a holiday of the Balearic Islands.

Today, March 1st, we celebrate the Day of the Balearic Islands to commemorate the approval of the Statute of Autonomy of the Autonomous Community on this day in 1983. I would like to know how many citizens of the islands are aware of what is the holiday we celebrate today and for what reason. In the absence of data, I dare to guess that more than half of them, at the risk of understatement.
There could start to be a «Balearic» feeling if Mallorca wanted to. Decentralize the administration by locating in Ibiza and Menorca some of the departments or making the smaller islands participants in the distribution of funds. There is an endless number of actions that can help which Mallorca has always refused. Thus the Balearic Islands will continue to be Mallorca and little else.
