The Royal Armory was located on the old Royal Stables that Philip II ordered the architect Gaspar de la Vega to build with a slate roof, in the manner of those that the king had seen in Flanders. Once finished in 1564, the main floor was occupied by the Armory, which until then was located in Valladolid and since then we can contemplate this work of art known worldwide, which is kept in the Museum. This building was demolished in 1894 and the Almudena Cathedral, a building that closes the current Plaza de la Armería on its southern side, now stands on its site.
The east side (facing Bailén) and the west side (facing Campo del Moro) are closed by arcades, the south side facing the Cathedral and the north side facing the main façade of the palace.

Para esta misma fotografía, tuve que hacer x30 fotos en total para poder representar El Palacio Real de Madrid sin gente paseando por la plaza de la Armería.
A pesar de los meses de invierno, Madrid sigue siendo muy visitada por muchos turistas. El clima es muy parecido al de Berlín a finales de la primavera, por lo que es una época muy conveniente para visitar esta capital. Madrid, situada en el centro de España, puede resultar muy difícil en los meses de verano para quienes no les guste el intenso calor. Sin embargo, esto significa que para la mayoría de los fotógrafos, los días de invierno en Madrid pueden ser una pesadilla.
Quería mostrar en mi fotografía la continua conformación del Palacio Real de Madrid y la inactividad de los turistas que se detienen en un alto que a veces puede distraer la visión. Decidí situarme en la terraza de la Catedral de la Almudena para seguir fotografiando. En total, hice x30 disparos para poder eliminar las figuras humanas en el post-procesamiento.

On July 8, several members of MCyP met with representatives of Patrimonio Nacional to convey our concern about the project to close the esplanade of the cathedral square adjacent to the Plaza de la Armería.
The attention given by the president and the people in charge was excellent. We were told of their concern about this same problem and their decision not to limit pedestrian access to the limit of the esplanade overlooking the Campo del Moro, recovering for the citizen the contemplation of the characteristic landscape that was always accessible. The previous management decided to limit the use to visitors of the Royal Palace and the Museum of Royal Collections, preventing the free passage of citizens, only accessible in that proposal through a fence located transversely between the Armory building and the cathedral and having to identify themselves in control booths set up for this purpose.
